Women on Tractors June Salisbury

During my first event as a CCAMA Member, my jaw dropped when I saw women driving the tractors. I was in awe of these women ! It is unique to see a woman on a tractor pulling a sled at an event. Just do some research on Google. Put in the search "women on tractors" Do you know what you will see? You will see beautiful women posed in front, on, or across the tractor. In this club we have beautiful, strong, and capable women who know how to drive a tractor and compete in tractor pulls with the men. So I asked them, How did you get started driving tractors?

June Salibury has written the following:

Tractors and Antique Machinery started for me in 1995.
We went to our first antique machinery show and tractor pull in South Jordan where the Utah Antique Machinery Assn was holding their annual event.  I could tell it was really love at first sight for Red and I made a decision right there to learn to like tractors, or I would be left at home.  This event was very enjoyable and educational. During the next year Red and our son Phil bought 2 tractors and started to restore them and get them ready to pull. When 1996 rolled around and it was time to go to the UAMA event we took one tractor, the 1947 Case LAI.  While they were involved in pulling and hanging with the guys, I went over to the antique machinery show where they were auctioning off a Case VAC tractor. I bought that tractor and I still pull it today. It was previously owned by a church and used only to mow weeds.  It was kept in great shape and with a bit of care it was ready to go to the pulls in 1997.  From that point on I have taken “TUFFY” to every tractor pull possible.

Cedar Livestock Festival 2013

In about 2005 I decided I wanted a bigger tractor so I bought the Minneapolis Moline U Diesel.  After many years to restore it and tons of money it is now known as the “MONEY PIT” and I hate pulling that bigger tractor, so Red has a new tractor to pull.

In 2000 there was a small group of tractor enthusiasts in Southern Utah, so we got together and decided to start our own branch of EDGE&TA.   With Red as the President and Me as the Secretary we got our start. We also had to include everyone that worked for us and most of our family members to get the 25 members required to start a branch. The rest you might say is history. We put on our first pull and recruited many more interested people. Each year more and more members came out to pull.  Because we started with several husband and wife teams pulling that trend continued in our club to this day.  It has really held our club together because pulling tractors has become a family event.

We have traveled all over the west buying antique tractors and farm equipment.  We have made many friends across the west at tractor shows and events. This has been a fun hobby.

This is big news. This young man is going to be 14 years old in June and he has won the title of "Tractor Puller of the Year".

Treyson got interested in Tractors 3 years ago. The interest and enthusiasm run in his family through his grandfather, Sheridan Hansen and his father, Kip Hansen.

What does Treyson do when he is not at the tractor pulls? He loves  running and recently ran the mile in just 6.07 minutes!

Here is Treyson with a dedicated team at the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival 2014 In Cedar City,UT

I will leave you with this quote by Chris Hadfield

Bye for now,
Deborah Moen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and
challenges you, and start moving  your life in that direction.
Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do
with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow,
and the day after that. Look at who you want to be,
and start sculpting yourself into that person.
You may not get exactly where you thought you'd be,
 but you will be doing things that
suit you in a profession you believe in.
Don't let life randomly kick you into the adult
you don't want to become." ~ Chris Hadfield
CCAMA In Cotton Days Parade Washington, UT
The beginning of the parade is announced and the moment arrives when you can hear the rumbling of the tractors and see the American flags unfolding and waving in the winds. The long line of CCAMA members came one by one down the hill with their children and grandchildren and dogs riding right up there with them. They smiled and waved as they drove by. It was an inspirational sight to see and a heartfelt patriotic feeling.
