Some Responsibilities of Show Chairman:

Write news letter articles for the reporter

6. Committee to contact all sponsors to renew sled advertising.
It was expressed that all members should plan on helping find business to advertise on the sled, and also the little sled.

7. Everyone is to help set up and clean up for tractor pulls. Before the pulls there is a lot of work to do and any and all help is appreciated. As pointed out by John Kirkland when your pull is over and your tractor is loaded the work is not done. Everyone needs to plan on helping to final up the day by pitching in and doing their part to Clean-up.

Cedar City Livestock Festival

You don't want to miss the next great event coming up the 23 and 24th of this month.

There will be a pull, but Red wants us to be aware of a change in rotation. This time we will be starting with the heavy tractor first and work down to the lighter ones.

So be sure to get you registration in to June early so we can have those programs made up and ready to go.

The Tractor Season Isn't Over Yet

Although we have some events behind us, we have a few weeks to get our tractors tuned up for the last events.

Western Legends , Aug. 26-29, is always a great time. The whole weekend is full of things to see and do and taste while you mingle with the Stars you grew up watching in those great old western movies and TV shows. Check out their site at http://www.westernlegendsroundup.com/
We always have a great time pulling. My only regret is that I will miss it this year as Jim and I attend the FENA (Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America) EXPO in MN that same weekend.

Jim and I have missed this the last few years but have it marked on our calendar for this year. It just sounds like we have been missing out on too much fun. Hope we see you there.

Page 3rd Annual Antique Tractor Pull and Show, Sept. 24-27th. While we welcome ALL tractors, we will also be hosting the 1st SW Regional Fall show for Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America. Our tourism dept. has put out big bucks for advertising and we are hopeing for a big turnout both of attenders and those with tractors and displays.
We welcome anyone wanting to display or sell "old iron". No food vendors please as our host, Big Lake Trading Post has plenty to offer. They not only haven't charged us for use of their property, but they have helped with gas along while we have fixed up the track. Purchasing from them during this weekend is our way of saying "Thank You."
I'm also working with the Navajo Village next door to have a tour of their facilities on Friday evening. If you are interested let us know.
We will also be having a catered buffet again, cost around $17 per person. Early reservations for that are appreciated as well so the cook can plan accordingly. For more information go to: http://pagetractorpull.blogspot.com/

Rumor has it that the final repairs on the sled were made just hours before everyone started arriving for the Parade and pull. We had a good crowd for the day. After the parade we started with a kiddie pull. There were several young contenders who soon discovered it was harder than it looked.

The day went off without a hitch and everyone had a good time. Check back for photos of the event. I hope to get them up within the week.

We ended the year's events the way we started it, with another fun pull in Washington, UT and celebrated Cody Kimber's birthday again in the process. Thanks Betsy and Cody for a great way to end our year's events.

We sure missed being able to get to the fun at Cedar City this year. HOpe you were able to make it. The weather seemed to be good for it.

Dean Dysart sent some photos of our sled since they worked it over. Sure looks good. Check it out on the slideshows to the left.

Our next and last pull for the year is in Washington on November 15th. It begins at 10:00 am and registation begins at 9:00 am. Pre-registration is recommended so we can start on time.

Our Annual meeting will be held on February 21st in Washington at the same place as last year. The price for dinner has not yet been determined.

I would like to invite all of you to send me photos and articles, etc. for the next newsletter coming out in December. Yep, it's just about that time. I need time to work them all up, so send them as soon as you can to judykitson@hughess.net or by snail mail to po box 2440, Page, AZ 86040.

The Iron County Ride and the Page Pull are now just fond memories. But there is more fun to come.
Up next is the Cedar City Livestock Show and Pull. Oct 24-25th.
Kip Hanson is the one to call for all the information. It sound like it will be a lot of fun and will also be the last scored pull of the year.

The new sled is finished and works. It has a 5 speed transmission. I got the first pull with the Farmall A and it gave me a nice pull before shutting me down in first. Gene got about as far with hiw Ford in second. Jim tried with the big Michigan Loader and in 5th it gave him a nice pull and shut him down.
This may just be the one to stop the Seamon?
Shifting and breaks are all handled from the outside, no crawling under. Breakman rides on the side.
Should be a great day for pulling. Hope to see you this weekend in Page, AZ.

What's Past and What's Coming Up Next

Western Legends is now a memory, but what fun we had with over 30 tractors making over 50 pulls!

We were all thrilled to see the Screaming Seamon back out as well, with a new paint job and more pulling weight.

September 26-28, brings the Antique Tractor Pull and Antique Machine Show in Page, AZ.
Gene and Jim are not only makeing the field better but are building their own sled for this and future Page Pulls. You can see more about it at: http://pagetractorpull.blogspot.com/

So far outside of the cost of some help and tools, the sled itself has been made from donated parts from Page Steel, or parts laying around our lot. I'm constantly impressed that it's coming together at all and what all it's coming together with. It will definitely be one of a kind. Keep watching the PageTractorPull site to see how it is coming.

If you are planning to attend, be sure to get your hotel reservations in NOW. There will also be selfcontained camping available.

Over the years we have grown as a club and now just won't fit in most restaurants. This year Red and June have found a fantastic catered location just for us.

Not only will there be a great meal and good camaraderie but Awards.
*There will be a Gold, Silver and Bronze trophy in each class for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners in points that are now being personalized for those winners.
*There will also be door prizes
* And we will be laying out the events calendar for this year.
All this begins Jan 26th at 5pm.
Be sure to get your reservation in early. You don't want to miss out on this one.
I know Jim and I, Rob and his wife Ely, and Gene and his wife are making plans to attend. Hope to see you there too.

Hope everyone is as excited as I am about the new year 2008.

To me a new year is a clean slate that we can write a new chapter of our lives on. Anything can and will happen but we get to make the choice as to how it will all affect us and what we want to do with what comes our way.

One choice I hope you will make is to attend this year's annual meeting & dinner in Washington, UT, January 26th. It will be held at Cotton Town Village, 28 N 300 W, Washington, UT beginning at 5 pm. June Salisbury and Rosie Kirkland have planned a fantastic catered 2 meat Buffet complete with all the trimmings for $18.50 per person.

All reservations must be in for a set head count by Jan.23. Any reservation not cancelled before the 23rd must be honored and paid for. No refunds after that date. You may reserve and pay at the door or send your money ahead with your reservation to june.s@wildblue.net or mail your check & reservation to June Salisbury, 925 S. 1775 E, Washington, UT 84780.

At our annual meeting we will also be planning this years calendar. Be sure to bring all your information for any events you will be sponsoring. You can also email that information ahead to me so I can begin getting it on the calendar. judykitson@hughes.net.

Another choice I hope you will make is to renew your membership for the coming year. It's time and June tells me she needs your renewal in by Feb. 15 so she can have the information in to National so our events can be covered properly. You can also pay at the dinner.

Our first newsletter for 2008 is out. To help save on postage, Hard Copies were only mailed to all those who don't have access to the Internet. You can find your copy here as you scan on down the page. As part of our newsletter there is also a copy of the newsletter from our National organization E.D.G.E & T. A. I hope another choice you will make this year is to read through all this as there is a lot of information to be gleaned from it.

So we are off to a good start with 2008. See you in Washington, UT - Jan. 26th and come prepared to kick up your heels as rumor has it there may even be dancing after the business is taken care of.

Cody's wife sure knows how to throw a birthday party.

It was a pleasant surprise to many of us to learn that our last pull of the year was also Cody's birthday. It made it all the more festive and special and everyone had a great time, the weather was fantastic and the food was melt in your mouth, delicious! Thanks to all those who pulled this together.

Hope everyone is enjoying a good holiday season. The new year is already looking good for our CCAMA group starting on Jan. 26th in Washington, UT at 5pm with our annual meeting and banquet. It is at a really special place this year. It will be a specially catered event in a more private location that will even allow for some dancing after the meeting. Watch for more on this as things get finalized. In the meantime MARK YOUR CALENDARS. You won't want to miss this meeting!

Cody came up with a GREAT idea, talked it over with Red and then contacted me to get the word out.

Let's have ONE MORE TRACTOR PULL, since the weather is so great!

This is a club only event.

It will be held Saturday, November 17th, 2007, at Nisson's Foodtown. Address is 45 North Main in Washington, UT.

Pull begins at 9:30 am to be followed with a FANTASTIC pot luck meal.

Meat will be provided (smoked turkey, lamb and ham), already they have several signed up to provide Dutch oven potatoes, potato salad, drinks and dutch oven cobbler. Please contact Cody with what you would like to bring and if you have any other questions - 435-668-7924.

This has been a great year of events for us and we have taken in several new members. So let's end our year with one big Celebration on us, for us and really get to know each other.

We had a lot of help, great back drop of cliffs and a lot of fun. We even let a couple of our helpers try pulling the sled with their old trucks.

Nothing ends but something new begins

Well the Pulling season, according to our CCAMA calendar seems over.

Sherman and Kip Hansen reported that the Iron Country Ride had been a lot of fun.

The event last weekend in Page was an even better success than we had hoped and another is definitely in the planning stages for next year. Thoughts are for a longer outback ride, a morning and afternoon pull with a lunch break, more display items and a possible tractor sale. And we upped our memberships from Page from 5 to 8.

We had 2 full days of pulling as well as an outback ride that everyone seemed to enjoy. Most had never driven their tractors on unworked land before and found the experience a fun challenge. The weather stayed on our side for most of the time. Although a bit windy on Saturday the rain held off until we had had 6 hours of pulling and then let loose and really watered down the field making it an even better track for Sunday. Again we had 6 full hours of pulling with many of us realizing in the late afternoon that we not only hadn't eaten but hadn't had our wake up cup of coffee.

We didn't have a lot of display items but did have 2 that came from the Flagstaff area and were well received by everyone such as the "Do Nothing Machine" that Earl Wolfe brought.

You may have noticed I mentioned a tractor sale above. One thing we had not expected was the interest by the Navajo in our tractors as objects to buy. They are really in need of the small tractors for work on their property. So next year we may promote something like that either with our pull or on a separate date. Anyone have any tractors they would be interested in selling? Know many of them also mentioned parts, so it might be we could set up something on that line as well. Any ideas?

We still have some of the commemorative pins left. They sold for $3 at the show but if any of you want some for $2 each let me know.

Rob Gay, one of our newest club members from Page has a great photo expo of his experience with our tractor pull on his website at http://dinodomain.com/tractor/ it may take a few minutes to load but well worth it.

Hope you will take note of the For Sale item Charlie has and the poster below for the Cedar City Lifestock and Heritage Festival, Oct. 26 and 27. There won't be a pull but they would sure like us in their parade and for display. Our thanks to Sheridan Hanson for sharing that with us.

Our computer has been down for the past few days, which delayed getting this up and I will be adding more photos this weekend so be sure to check back.

As I write this many of you will be finishing up the Iron Country Run. We had hoped to be with you but Jim and Gene felt that if they were going to host a pull here in Page in another 3 weeks they had better be getting things ready.

You will note that I have added the pull results from the Western Legends Pull. This was a great event for those attending. The weather was perfect for the types of events that Western Legends had planned and I think everyone attending had a good time. Winners of the pull were - Chris Wright, John Kirkland, June Salisbury, Val Cram, Rosie Kirkland, Dave Christensen and Norm Kerr.

Upcoming Events - Aug. - Sept.

This month has two great events to attend and participate in.

First the Western Legends in Kanab, UT. Aug. 24-25, 2007. Our pull will be at 9 am Saturday, Aug. 25. Be sure to preregister to help this event start on time.

August ends on the 30th with Peach Days in Hurricane.

September begins with the Iron County Fair Antiquer Tractor Ride and Show, Sept. 1-3. See schedule below. Preregistration for this event is appreciated.

After you have rested up from that be sure to attend the Page, Arizona Pull and Show. This is a first for Page and we are working hard to get things ready. Last month we attended a show and pull in Flagstaff and many of the displays are interested in attending our event so we are looking forward to quite a good showing. Jim and Gene have begun to grade and level out the area for the pull. We have been fortunate to have Big Lake Trading Post as our host site. It sits on a crossroads of Highway 98 and Coppermine Road. The adjacent corners all offer areas of free parking with plenty of room for self-contained overnight, or just a place to park your truck/trailers, etc. We are lining up raffle prizes, have ordered commemorative pins and a banner for uptown, will have a program with restaurant guide and 1st - 3rd place ribbons for our pull winners. The city has offered the use of a set of bleachers for beside the pull. It's all started to come together and interest is growing. Hope to see you there. Preregistration is appreciated. Last weekend several of us had the unique opportunity to attend the Erickson Show. Thank you Dick for such a pleasant weekend!

Rosy and John were probably the first of our group to arrive on Friday and were soon put to work hauling in the guests. On Saturday Jim was able to give John a break and I enjoyed riding in the wagon as tour guide. It was neat meeting all the people who were mostly coming for the first time, like us.

The Erickson Farm is laid out much like an old town with a little bit of everytype of store, business, etc. to visit. Interspersed between all of that are his collections of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors. It is a lovely valley setting surrounded with snowcovered peaks. In fact quite a bit of snow which had fallen last week when we had cold winds here in Page. By Sunday most had pretty well melted.

One of the first things they were trying to do on Friday was start up the tractor - pully - to run the saw mill. They got things going but it was turning too windy to handle the long belts that ran from the big tractor to the saw. On Saturday and Sunday the weather was perfect and everyone got the thrill of seeing this in action.

There was plenty of camper parking in the upper levels. Great food from at least 3 vendors and plenty of facilities. Dick is a very thoughtful host.

On Saturday there will be a tractor parade at 11, sign-up for the pull at 12 and the pull at 1pm

Pull is across the street from Ernie's on North Main.

Remember - if you know you are going to attend and plan to pull in any of our events you can register ahead by contacting June Salisbury. It is sometimes hard to get a pull set up to start on time, just because of getting everyone registered. If most of us preregistered, it would save a lot of time and events could start on schedule.

Our pull on Saturday ended with a contest between Red Salisbury's 1957 Seaman and Dick Erickson's 1958 John Deere 830. They first tied with full pulls but a rematch using both the heavy and the lighter sled had Red pulling 141' and Eric with a full pull.

We've been getting calls for information on hotels in Page for the September event. A quick check with the Chamber of Commerce http://pagelakepowellchamber.org or our local tourism Department http://www.pagelakepowelltourism.com/ may be of help. I've been told that rooms are filling up fast. I am also making arrangements for self contained trailers and R/Vs.

This weekend we are off for the Erickson Show and Pull. Hope to see you there.

Welcome to the new CCAMA blog

I'm Judy Kitson. At the February meeting I was elected to do your newsletter and also set up a web page.

My husband Jim Kitson and our good friend Gene Tucker joined the Color Country AMA last fall when they pulled during Western Legends in Kanab and I joined at the pull in La Verkin when I pulled for the first time. Wow, what a feeling. Now we are all hooked on pulling and tractors. We are even planning our first tractor pull for Page, Arizona in September. We hope to make this a yearly event.

I choose to do it as a blog spot for several reasons. The main one being it is easy, free, and allows us to put up several things as well as being accessible to anyone, so maybe we will even draw new members or at least interest in our events, etc. from it.

I do hope you will find it useful and informative and maybe even fun. I welcome any and all comments, suggestions, pictures, articles, etc. This is your space, help us make it what you want.
